Frequently asked questions.

Service & Event Size

  • Maine Wedding Provisions specializes in intimate gatherings of 8-30 guests offering full-service culinary hospitality throughout Southern and MidCoast Maine from Portland and Cape Elizabeth to Kennebunkport, York and beyond. Your celebration receives undivided attention, thoughtful care, and seasonal menus tailored to your weekend. Larger cocktail receptions (up to 60 guests) can also be accommodated.

Unlike traditional caterers who serve events from 50-500 guests, our offerings are tailored to intimate celebrations. Your 20-guest Cape Elizabeth wedding receives chef-level attention and ingredient quality with far more personalization than larger operations can offer.

  • Nearly every ingredient we prepare comes from Maine organic family farms and sustainably managed fishing operations.

Instead of chasing trends, we chase seasonality:

    • Low-bush blueberries and heirloom tomatoes in August

    • Sweet shellfish in Summer

    • Tender greens in May and June

    • Root vegetables and scallops in the cooler months

This means our menus aren’t static; they reflect the moment in the harvest calendar when your celebration occurs, and this is part of what makes them memorable.

Schedule a call or submit an inquiry to reserve your dates.

  • Our booking process is designed to be personal and straightforward:

Step 1: Inquiry Submit your inquiry through our website or schedule a brief discovery call. You'll receive confirmation of availability within 2 business days, and a link to book your menu consultation or instant proposal, depending on your preferred workflow.

Step 2: Booking & Proposal Once you’re ready to move forward, you’ll receive a custom proposal with detailed pricing. Sign your contract and pay the 50% retainer to secure your date. This guarantees your menu design session and locks in staff for your event.

Step 3: Menu Design Call (within 60 days of booking) Join Chef Rebecca for a 30–90 minute menu design session. Together we’ll discuss your vision, tastes, dietary needs, and the flow of your weekend. Your menu choices at this stage guide staffing, service style, and any enhancement offerings such as welcome suppers, cocktail hour bites, or guest amenities.

Step 4: Final Details (60 days before your event)
At this point, we’ll finalize your menu, confirm guest count, and review any add-ons such as printed menus, late-night snacks, or pantry stocking for onsite guests. The remaining balance is due at this time.

    Step 5: The Celebration
Relax, savor, and be present! From welcome suppers to the main meal and thoughtful touches for your guests, everything is prepared to ensure your weekend is seamless, seasonal, and unforgettable.

  • When comparing culinary services, it's helpful to understand different service models.

How larger caterers operate: Some caterers manage multiple events simultaneously across different venues, with sales teams handling client communication and kitchen staff they may never meet preparing your food.

How we operate: We focus exclusively on your event. Chef Rebecca is personally involved in menu design, ingredient sourcing, preparation, and on-site execution. When you book Maine Wedding Provisions, you're getting:

    • Direct chef relationship — No middleman between you and the person cooking your food

    • California culinary expertise — West Coast fine dining techniques built into every menu

    • Ingredient transparency — We'll tell you exactly which farms your food comes from

    • Undivided attention — Your event is our only focus that day

For intimate celebrations of 8-30 guests, this personalized approach delivers exceptional value that larger operations simply cannot match.

See what our clients say →

  • It’s important to us that your vision and our approach are aligned. Our style is relaxed, seasonal, and rooted in place — we do not offer formal, Michelin‑style tasting presentations or rigidly styled plates.

If you’re seeking elaborate artful plating, molecular gastronomy, or formal service theatrics, we’re happy to gently guide you toward vendors whose offerings better match that vision. We want you to feel thrilled with your choice.

For those who connect with the joy of food that tastes like the land and sea, that invites languid conversation around the table, and that feels beautifully present without show — that’s where our work lives.

The best first step to see if this is a good fit is to schedule a discovery call with Chef Rebecca.
