Frequently asked questions.

Service & Capacity

What size events does Maine Wedding Provisions cater?

Maine Wedding Provisions specializes exclusively in intimate gatherings of 8-30 guests for full-service catering. We can also provide cocktail hour appetizers for up to 60 guests.

Unlike traditional caterers who serve events from 50-500 guests, our entire business model is built around intimate celebrations. Your 20-guest Cape Elizabeth wedding receives chef-level attention and ingredient quality with far more personalization.

Can you handle multi-day wedding events?

Yes! Multi-day service is one of our specialties. We regularly cater entire wedding weekends including welcome dinners, rehearsal dinners, wedding day service, and farewell brunches.

Our boutique size makes us more flexible than larger operations. We can seamlessly transition from a casual lobster roll luncheon on Friday to an elegant plated dinner Saturday while maintaining ingredient quality and service consistency.

Do you cater corporate retreats and private events?

Absolutely! We specialize in luxury retreat catering for corporate groups, wellness retreats, and private celebrations throughout Southern Maine from Kennebunkport to Cape Elizabeth, Portland, and Harpswell. Services include multi-day meal planning, kitchen curation with gourmet provisions, boxed meals for excursions, and meeting break service.

Your 15-person board retreat receives the same culinary innovation and attention as our wedding services.

When Should I book?

May - October is peak wedding season in Maine, with prime availability for outdoor ceremonies and higher demand for dates. It’s recommended to book your dates as soon as possible as our summer calendar often fills up and is fully booked by the end of May, with many clients booking their dates over five months in advance.

November through April is considered the off-season and offers greater flexibility and reduced minimums. Winter events can usually be booked up to 6 weeks prior to your event date, depending on the complexity of the menu and services. It’s still advisable to book as soon as possible to ensure availability and enough lead time to secure rentals and procurement of specialty ingredients.

WHat about Guests with Special Diets?

It’s a pleasure to accommodate special dietary needs. Most of the dishes on the menus are easily made vegetarian or vegan, and without gluten, dairy, nuts, peanuts, and egg.

Without the availability of a designated allergen-free kitchen and equipment, we’re unable to ensure the absence of cross-contamination to provide meals for guests with severe allergies or with Celiac Disease.

DO you Serve AlcOhol?

MWP does not have a liquor license. We are happy to offer guidance for your beverage selection, and can suggest pairings for your meal. Here is a list of our favorite local bartending companies.

Can you help with tabletop rentals?

MWP is a one stop shop offering tabletop rentals coordination for linens, plates, utensils, paper products, and florals.

Rentals are subject to availability and will be invoiced separately after a design consultation to determine your preferred style and needs.

Do you offer island service?

Yes! We love Island events and have catered intimate weddings on Peaks Island, Cow Island, and on Cliff Island. Service is also available to Chebeague Island, Cousins Island, Little Diamond, and Great Diamond Island. Water taxi or ferry transportation will simply be added to your service cost. Why choose Maine Wedding Provisions over OTHER established caterers?

Many caterers in Maine specialize in larger events of 50-500+ guests. Our experience is deliberately focused on what makes intimate celebrations of 8-30 guests special.

Our approach: Chef Rebecca is personally involved in every event, bringing California culinary training to Maine's incredible ingredients. We have direct partnerships with local organic family farms including Dandelion Spring Farm, Bumbleroot, and Frith Farm. We practice zero-waste sustainability and don't serve red meat as an environmental commitment.

You're getting a California-trained chef who brings innovative techniques to New England's finest ingredients — private chef-level attention at catering prices.

What makes your pricing competitive with larger caterers?

When comparing catering services, it's helpful to understand different service models. Some caterers manage multiple events simultaneously across different venues.

We focus exclusively on your event. Chef Rebecca is personally involved in menu design, preparation, and often on-site execution.

Our California culinary background brings techniques and flavor combinations from West Coast fine dining—built into your menu as part of our standard approach.
